Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of amud.ai and related services (the “Service”) operated by AMUD AI LLC (“amud,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may only use the Service with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
2. The Service
amud is an AI-powered Torah study tool that provides an interactive learning experience drawing on Torah texts and commentaries. The Service uses artificial intelligence to generate responses, explanations, and learning sessions.
Important: Nature of the AI
The Service uses artificial intelligence, which can produce inaccurate, incomplete, or unexpected results. You acknowledge that:
- AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or hallucinations
- The Service is a learning tool, not an authoritative source
- The Service is not a posek, rebbe, or substitute for human Torah authorities
- You should not rely on the Service for halachic rulings, religious decisions, or any matter requiring the judgment of a competent human authority
- You should independently verify any information from the Service before relying on it
3. Accounts
To use most features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current information
- Maintain the security of your password
- Notify us promptly of unauthorized access
- Be responsible for all activity under your account
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion.
You may delete your account at any time from your account settings or by contacting us at support@amud.ai. Account deletion is permanent and cancels any active subscription.
4. Subscription and Payment
Some features of the Service require a paid subscription. By subscribing, you agree to:
- Pay the fees described at the time of purchase
- Provide accurate payment information through our payment processor Stripe
- Authorize recurring charges if you select a recurring plan
Cancellation and Refunds
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Except where required by law, fees are non-refundable.
We may change pricing at any time with reasonable notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to bypass security measures, rate limits, or access restrictions
- Scrape, harvest, or extract data from the Service except as expressly permitted
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the underlying code or models
- Use the Service to generate content that is harmful, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or that violates anyone’s rights
- Misrepresent your identity or impersonate others
- Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Service or its outputs without our written permission
- Use the Service to train or develop competing AI products or models
- Use the Service in violation of any applicable law
6. User Content
When you submit content to the Service (questions, prompts, feedback, etc.), you retain ownership of that content. However, you grant amud a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, store, process, and display your content as needed to operate, improve, and provide the Service.
You represent that you have the right to submit any content you submit and that it does not violate anyone else’s rights or any applicable law.
7. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, design, branding, and original content, is owned by amud and protected by intellectual property laws.
The Torah texts available through the Service are drawn from public domain sources. AI-generated explanations and outputs are provided to you for personal learning use under the terms of your subscription.
You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal Torah learning, subject to these Terms. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
8. AI Outputs
Outputs generated by the AI may be used by you for personal learning, study, and similar non-commercial purposes. You may not:
- Republish AI outputs as your own original work for commercial purposes
- Use AI outputs to train competing models
- Misrepresent AI outputs as the work of a human Torah authority
We make no warranties about the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI outputs. See Section 2 above.
9. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on third-party services including Anthropic (AI processing), Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery), and others. Your use of the Service is subject to those providers’ applicable terms where they govern their portion of the Service.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY OF AI OUTPUTS.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AMUD AI LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, MEMBERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS.
SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES OR LIMITATION OF LIABILITY, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless amud and its officers, members, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another party.
13. Termination
You may terminate your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for violation of these Terms or for any other reason.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, dispute resolution) will survive.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on the Service and updating the “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree to the changes, stop using the Service.
15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict of laws principles.
Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey, and you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of those courts.
16. Miscellaneous
Entire Agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and amud regarding the Service.
Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
No Waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
